Friday night we went with Matt & Sandra from our small group to see Rob Bell’s Drop Like Stars. It was at the Royal Oak Music Theatre and there we met my parents and their dear friends Ken & Julie and their son Chris. Kimmy and I were so blessed with the many great years we had at Mars Hill and missing it has been one of the hardest parts about being away from Grand Rapids. So for a night it was great to feel like we were back home.
It was Rob’s third speaking tour and it was amazing. He talked about suffering and how it spurs honesty and rebirth and new creation. Because when your whole world has flipped upside down like that there’s really no point in pretending anymore, right? And in that stage we connect with God and others because we’ve all been there before; we all know what it’s like to suffer.
We highly recommend you go see him in your city or if not look for it when it comes out on DVD. Also, we got the DVDs of his previous two tours so if anyone wants to see them just ask and we’ll be glad to lend them out.
Grace and peace to you.
