Slumdog Millionaire

Last night we finally saw Slumdog Millionaire (got it on blu-ray a day after it came out from Netflix - pretty cool).  Although it was more intense than we figured, we both loved it.  It’s a great story and it’s made very, very well.  Also, it does a really good job showing the horrors of human trafficking and the sex slave trade, issues that have been on both Kimmy and I’s hearts.

Sure the movie is highly stylized, but we are so far away from these issues that sometimes they don’t even seem real.  It’s nice to see Hollywood starting to do its part (Taken is also great - we saw a bootlegged version at a nail salon), but we all need to take initiative.  One thing you can do now is get involved with International Justice Mission.  Human trafficking is one of the worst injustices in this world. Unfortunately there are many people, mostly children, forced into slavery, prostitution and bonded-debt labor everyday. The International Justice Mission is one organization that is committed to fighting human trafficking. We support and urge others to check out what they are all about! And hopefully we can start to change that.
